Oh, the wonderful world of English!

So, I was thinking the other day about how great English was. I know, this is random, but seriously, where would we be without the ability to communicate? The things we learn when we are younger enable us to productively communicate, carry out business, retain friendships, hold conversations, and so much more. The fundamentals that we all learn at such a young age are meant to better our vocabulary, grammar, and other fundamental elements of our language. So, what's so important about 3rd grade English, you might ask? Well, to be quite honest, I'm not really sure. I suppose I can relate to and be thankful for the things that I learned in 3rd grade English class. So, I decided for this blog that I would list some of the things that are routine for an average 3rd grader to study. Let me know if you remember any of these things, and if you still use them to this day? I bet you didn't even know that you knew so much as a 3rd grader!!

*Antonyms
*Synonyms
*Homophones
*Several Syllable words
*Know the definitions of multiple-meaning words (i.e. fire and puzzle)
*Distinguish the main idea and supporting details in informational text
*Identify the problems and solutions in a story

-->These are just some of the standards that are required for all 3rd graders in Indiana. There are several other ones. IF you want to know more about them you can go to: http://www.doe.state.in.us/standards/grade03.html

Happy Learning! :)

It's very surprising to see how much we learned when we were that age. Surprisingly, it's been pounded into my head so much throughout my high school and even college career that I know a lot of it. I think it's important that we see how things are built up, from basic knowledge, to a better understanding, and your blog really helped bring that out. It's obvious that we will use english every day of our lives, and there's no way around that. But at the same token, it's very important to know how to use it.

I loved your blog, and I can't wait to read more!
